Bern is the capital of Switzerland.

Bern has had a bear pit since at least 1513. According to legend, Bern was named after a bear that Berthold V (Duke of Zähringen) encountered on a hunt.
The central portal of the cathedral, by Erhard Küng, depicts the Last Judgment, and dates from around 1470. The sanctuary was designed by Matthäus Ensinger, from Strasbourg.

Spiez is a small town on the south side of Lake Thun.

Thun is a small town on the north side of Lake Thun.
